At the core of Picture Start Films is director/producer Elliot Caplan whose work includes paintings, drawings and prints, photographs, films, videos, writings, media installations and theatrical media for music, opera and dance. Caplan is the creator of acclaimed documentaries ranging from the 90-minute Cage/Cunningham to an Emmy Award-winning segment produced for PBS on the completed restoration of the New York Public Library's beautiful Rose Reading Room.

The current projects of Picture Start Films include 15 Days of Dance: The Making of "Ghost Light," a documentary of the dance creation process of new work by Brian Reeder choreographed for the American Ballet Theatre, Shamayim, a piece featuring the bass voice of Nicholas Isherwood, and Hidden Things, a filmic visual poem that will illuminate the lives of Jewish children who experienced the Holocaust.
