Nam June Paik

In 1981, I was asked to document the videotapes of Nam June Paik for his Whitney Museum of American Art Retrospective. This was the first major one-person exhibition of video art at a major American museum.
For the exhibition catalogue, I developed a system which captured a "pure" video signal from the videotape, which eliminated the raster lines. It was the first time this type of approach was used for publication.
